Osceola Man Accused of Gun and Drug Possession After Arrest on Warrant in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is facing felony charges after officers with the Jonesboro Police Department say they found drugs and a firearm in his possession while attempting to arrest him on a warrant.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on Aug. 22, 2025, officers patrolling the area of David Cove and Gilbert Street observed a man pacing with a backpack. Officers contacted the man, identified as Charles Beare, 25, of Osceola, due to an increase in reported vehicle break-ins in the area.

Beare told officers he had just gotten out of the shower and lived nearby. Dispatch advised he had a valid misdemeanor warrant. When officers attempted to detain him, Beare allegedly tensed up and pulled away before being taken into custody.

Police searched Beare and his backpack, reportedly locating a clear tub with 1.7 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms. Officers also reported finding a Kel-Tec Sub2000 rifle with a loaded 50-round drum magazine inside his backpack.

Beare faces charges of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony; possession of Schedule I or II not meth or cocaine, a Class D felony; and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

Judge David Boling set bond at $100,000 cash or surety.

His next court date is set for October 30.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
