VIDEO: 130 MPH Pursuit Into Memphis Ends With Gunpoint Stop, No Arrests

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Newly obtained Arkansas State Police video shows a multi-agency pursuit that crossed into Memphis and ended with a felony traffic stop at gunpoint after officers were reportedly told the suspects were wanted for aggravated assault.

According to an ASP incident report, Troopers joined the pursuit around 10:42 a.m. on April 25 near the 281-mile marker on Interstate 40 after the West Memphis Police Department requested assistance with an active chase.

The report states dispatch advised troopers the suspects were being pursued in connection with an aggravated assault.

Troopers and West Memphis officers pursued the vehicle onto Interstate 55 northbound, with speeds reportedly reaching 130 mph as the chase entered Memphis.

After passing Exit 7 on Interstate 55, the suspect vehicle reportedly ran out of gas and came to a stop on the shoulder of the interstate.

The report states officers from WMPD and ASP conducted a felony takedown on the vehicle, detaining all four occupants at gunpoint while clearing the vehicle.

However, after the occupants were identified, officers were reportedly informed by WMPD that the pursuit had actually begun from a routine traffic stop — not an aggravated assault investigation as initially believed.

According to the report, Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene but advised they could not hold the suspects or tow the vehicle under the circumstances.

All detained occupants were ultimately released at the scene while the driver arranged for a family member to bring fuel to the disabled vehicle, the report states.

The report indicates WMPD planned to seek warrants following the incident.

The driver was identified as Kilyzjhia Williams, who the report states was unlicensed.

The passengers were identified as Temesha Williams Taylor, Brandon Mangum and Kentrell Williams.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
