CORNING, Ark. — A Corning woman was arrested after Clay County deputies reported finding suspected drugs and paraphernalia during a narcotics investigation.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were investigating information about illegal narcotic activity at about 12:22 p.m. May 9 when they observed a vehicle and a female driver connected to the information they had received.
The driver pulled into a parking lot on Southeast First Street in Corning. A deputy made contact with the driver and a male passenger, according to the sheriff’s department.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, he saw two clear plastic bags containing a white substance on the vehicle’s console, the department said. When the driver and passenger were asked to exit the vehicle, the deputy also noticed a large plastic bag in the driver’s seat.
Deputies searched the vehicle and reported finding other narcotics and paraphernalia.
Holly Denise Townsend, 38, of Corning, was taken to the Clay County Detention Center. She was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with purpose to deliver, greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams; possession of a Schedule III controlled substance with purpose to deliver; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
