Jonesboro Suspect Accused of Choking Girlfriend, Faces Aggravated Assault Charge

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is facing a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member after he was accused of choking his girlfriend during an argument Sunday in Jonesboro.

On August 3, 2025, the alleged victim came to the Jonesboro Police Department crying, according to the probable cause affidavit. She stated she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend, and he attacked her. She told officers Jordan Garrison Bowman, 28, grabbed her by the neck three different times, choking her, and causing her not to be able to breathe each time.

The victim had multiple injuries on her face and neck. Her left eye was beginning to swell shut, police said. She had injuries to her hands and had blood on them from cuts as well. She also stated she was hurt from being slammed on the floor by Bowman.

The victim stated she was finally able to get away from the residence and drove to the police department for help.

Officers responded to the residence and arrested Bowman. He was transported to Craighead County Detention Center on a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony.

On Monday, Judge Tommy Fowler set his bail at $15,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order and a warning: bail for any alleged violation of a no-contact order starts at $10,000 cash only.

“Do not play around with my no-contact order,” Fowler said, as he often does while cautioning defendants of the consequences.

Bowman’s next court date is Sept. 30, 2025.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
