JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is accused of violating a no-contact order and attacking a pregnant woman in a probable cause affidavit read in court on Monday in Jonesboro.
On August 1, 2025, officers from JPD were dispatched to an address on West Nettleton for a domestic disturbance. Police made contact with the first alleged victim, who said that her boyfriend, Eja Blankenship, had assaulted her. She is three months pregnant with his child, the affidavit said. She explained that the altercation began as an argument over her desire to find a job, which the suspect opposed.
According to the victim, Blankenship “jumped on her” and struck her in the head with his elbow. He then grabbed her by the jaw to prevent her from yelling for her grandmother, identified as the second victim. Officers observed scratches on the first victim’s face and a red mark on her shoulder.
The second victim, the grandmother, became aware of the situation and attempted to call 911. That’s when the affidavit said Blankenship grabbed her by the wrist and prevented her from making the call.
Officers later confirmed a no-contact order issued on Dec. 6, 2024, prohibiting Blankenship from having any contact with the first victim.
Blankenship now faces charges including third-degree domestic battery, a Class D felony, and second-degree interference with emergency communication, a Class B misdemeanor. He is also accused of violation of a no-contact order, which can include up to a year in the county jail. He faces a possible parole violation, as well.
On Monday, Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $10,000 cash-only, meaning he must pay the full amount to the sheriff’s department to be released. The judge also warned the defendant not to violate the no-contact order again, or he could be held without bond.
His next court appearance is set for Sept. 30, 2025.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
