Hardy Fires Police Chief After Arrest, Appoints Interim Replacement

HARDY, Ark. – The City of Hardy says it is taking steps to terminate the employment of Former Police Chief Scott Rose following his recent arrest.

In a statement Tuesday, city officials said they had taken “decisive steps to terminate his employment.” The post on social media stated that the decision was made “to protect the integrity of our police department and uphold public trust.”

Michael Himschoot has been appointed interim police chief. City leaders said they believe he will guide the department through the transition while maintaining a focus on public safety, professionalism, and community engagement.

“We appreciate the continued trust and patience of our community as we work toward a stable and effective future for public safety in Hardy,” the city’s statement read.

The City is aware of the recent arrest of Former Police Chief Scott Rose. In light of the serious nature of the alleged offense, the City of Hardy determined that immediate action was necessary to protect the integrity of our police department and uphold public trust. Effective immediately, we have taken decisive steps to terminate his employment.

We understand the concerns and emotions surrounding this matter, and we want to assure our residents that maintaining safety remains our highest priority. To ensure a smooth transition, the City has appointed Interim Police Chief Michael Himschoot to lead the department during this period.
