JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman was arrested after police said an officer found a pill that tested positive for fentanyl during a traffic stop, followed by more drugs and paraphernalia during a search of a residence.
Vickie Lynn Evans, 69, of Jonesboro, was arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl, a Class C felony, and possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class D felonies.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department, Officer J. Chaffin observed a vehicle leave a residence on April 23, 2026, that was known to him to sell narcotics.
The officer stopped in the middle of the road after seeing the vehicle, and the vehicle did not begin moving again until the officer turned on his headlights and pulled out, the affidavit states. As the vehicle passed, Chaffin saw that the license plate on the rear of the vehicle was obstructed and could not be viewed from behind.
A traffic stop was then conducted.
Police said Evans was driving and was on active SIS with a search waiver on file. Evans said she had a pain pill in her pocket, according to the affidavit. A blue M30 Oxycodone pill was found in her pocket and tested positive for fentanyl, police said.
Chaffin informed Evans he would take her back to her residence to conduct a search. Evans stated she had meth at her residence, according to the affidavit.
During the search, police said they found a digital scale with residue, one Hydrocodone pill, 2.05 grams of meth, a glass pipe and a tooter straw.
Special Judge Barbara Halsey set Evans’ bail at $50,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
