Woman Accused Of Home Attack in Jonesboro Faces Up To Life In Prison

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested on a Class Y felony after police said she forced her way into a residence and attacked a victim earlier this month.

Mary Alice Thomas, 32, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony, and third-degree battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers were dispatched on April 12, 2026, to the 500 block of Belt Street regarding a disturbance. Officers met with the alleged victim, who said she had returned home to avoid an altercation with Thomas.

The victim told police that although she managed to close the door, she was unable to lock it before Thomas forced the door open and entered the residence.

Once inside, Thomas attacked the victim, causing an injury to the area around her right eye, the affidavit states. Officers observed visible swelling and redness in the area.

The victim also reported that she fell during the struggle, at which point Thomas kicked her in the head.

Surveillance footage showed Thomas and the victim engaged in an argument before the victim entered her residence and closed the door, according to the affidavit. The footage then showed Thomas aggressively opening the door and pursuing the victim into the home.

Thomas was arrested on April 25, according to jail records. On Monday, April 27, bond was set at $150,000 cash or surety, with a no-contact order issued. Thomas asked for a lower bond, but Judge Tommy Fowler held firm, emphasizing that she faces up to life in prison on the Class Y felony charge.

Her next court date is June 26.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
