SWIFTON, Ark. — On Sunday, April 19, 2026, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Arkansas State Police (ASP) to investigate a sexual assault incident that occurred in Swifton involving former Swifton Police Officer Benjamin Drake Slagley, 31, of Swifton and a juvenile victim.
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, U.S. Marshals Task Force Officers arrested Slagley at a residence in Swifton. He was transported to the Cross County Detention Center, where he was booked on Second-Degree Sexual Assault, Residential Burglary, and knowingly Furnishing or Selling Alcohol to a Minor.
Separately, on October 13, 2025, ASP CID Agents arrested Slagley on one count of Arson. The arrest followed an investigation into an August 2025 fire at Slagley’s home in Swifton.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested ASP CID to investigate after Slagley, then a Swifton police officer, contacted 911 to report the fire at his home. Following that incident, Slagley resigned from his position.
