Paragould Mother Accused of Leaving Children Home Alone to Visit Nightclub

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould woman is facing a felony after police said she left her three young children home alone to go to a nightclub early Saturday morning.

Around 12:52 a.m. on April 26, Paragould officers were informed that a mother, identified as Irene Anderson, 32, had left her children — ages 11, 8, and 4 — at home without supervision, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers were told Anderson had gone to LA Nights, located at 318 S. 2nd St.

Police located Anderson at the nightclub. She admitted to leaving the children alone, according to investigators.

Officers also learned that the 4-year-old child is disabled and suffers from seizures.

Anderson was arrested for First-Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a Class D felony.

A.C.A. § 5-27-205
5-27-205. Endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree.
(a) A person commits the offense of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree if,
being a parent, guardian, person legally charged with care or custody of a minor, or a person
charged with supervision of a minor, he or she purposely:
(1) Engages in conduct creating a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury to a
minor
(b) Endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree is a Class D felony.

Bail was set at $10,000 cash only.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
