Paragould Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Firearm Seizure

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A parolee is facing felony charges after Paragould police recovered a stolen vehicle and a firearm during a weekend traffic stop, authorities said.

On April 27, officers were advised that a stolen 2007 GMC Acadia out of Missouri was entering the Paragould city limits. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

During the stop, officers confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen. The driver, identified as Sharun Adaway, was taken into custody.

Adaway was interviewed at the Paragould Police Department, where police said he made self-incriminating statements during a Mirandized interview. Adaway reportedly told detectives there was a firearm in the backseat, which officers later recovered.

Investigators determined that Adaway is currently on parole and is a convicted felon.

Adaway faces charges of theft of property, a Class C felony, and possession of firearms by certain persons, a Class D felony.

His bail was set at $15,000 cash only. A no-contact order was issued, and an ankle monitor will be required if released.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
