PARAGOULD, Ark. – A Paragould woman is facing three felony charges after authorities found one dog dead and two puppies in such bad condition, they had to be euthanized. The animals were apparently abandoned in her former home.
The probable cause affidavit says the Paragould Police Department dispatched officers on January 3 to the address in reference to a cruelty to animal report.
Officers arrived to find a strong odor of decaying flesh inside of the trailer. Police contacted the property manager, who allowed access to the residence. Animal control was also contacted.
When animal control made entry, they discovered a dead dog in a small cage along with two puppies. The puppies were emaciated and you could see their ribs. They were in such bad condition, animal control advised they would have to euthanize the two small dogs.
On January 17, the prior resident was interviewed by Paragould Police. The PC affidavit states that she gave self-incriminating statements during a mirandized interview.
Probable cause was found to arrest Adrienne Hauptman, 30, of Paragould, for three counts of aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat, or equine, a Class D felony.
