Suspect Arrested for Drug Possession Following Traffic Stop in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A routine traffic stop in Jonesboro earlier this week escalated into the arrest of a suspect on charges related to drug possession with intent to distribute.

Between 3 PM and 5 PM on Dec. 20, Officer Tyler Williams conducted a traffic stop near the 1900-block of West Nettleton Avenue for speeding involving a white 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass/Ciera.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, Officer Williams discovered five bags of marijuana, collectively weighing approximately 46 grams. The estimated street value of the seized substance was assessed at $20 per gram, totaling $920. Additionally, a small amount of THX was found alongside a functional digital scale.

Averin Delescod Huggins, 31, a resident of Jonesboro, was taken into custody on multiple charges. He faces felony charges for possession of a schedule VI substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Furthermore, misdemeanors include speeding exceeding 15 mph over the limit, driving with an expired vehicle license, and lacking proof of insurance.

Jail records confirm Huggins is currently held on a parole violation in addition to the aforementioned charges.
