JONESBORO, Ark. – Police alerted the public Wednesday of a black bear roaming around the south Jonesboro area.
The bear was spotted around 2 PM roaming around the ATV area at Craighead Forest Park, JPD said in a post to social media. Multiple people have reported seeing the bear but thankfully, no one has had any negative encounters. Police hoped to keep it that way by urging the public not to bother or approach the animal.
A release from the city at 3:21 PM said JPD and Arkansas Game and Fish officers are attempting to capture the black bear and hope to save and relocate the animal to its habitat. The release said it was spotted near Home Depot on East Parker Road.
On Thursday, authorities said the bear had been spotted near the Greene County line north of Jonesboro.
