Juvenile set on fire, airlifted

JONESBORO, Ark. – A chaotic incident unfolded Monday afternoon on State Street in north Jonesboro.

At 4:19 PM, 911 was notified of a burglary in progress at the 200-block of State Street in Jonesboro. The call was from a juvenile who advised several people were outside of her home trying to break into her residence and fight or harm her.

Somehow, the attackers got into contact with the juvenile, JPD reported. They set her hair on fire. The girl suffered burns to her scalp.

Hospital Wing was called in to airlift the victim to Memphis.

Update from JPD – 8 PM

The first officer was on scene and made contact with a female outside the apartment complex. While the officer was speaking to the female, a juvenile came running out of the apartment with their hair on fire.

The juvenile’s hair was extinguished and EMS was requested to the scene. The juvenile was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. This case is still being investigated at this time.

The residential burglary was unfounded due to officers being unable to locate any victims on scene.

The incident involving the burn victim is still under investigation.
