JONESBORO, Ark. – While many details aren’t known, a man could be in trouble for child abuse after video footage reportedly showed him carrying a child out of the store by the neck and possibly slapping or hitting the child once in the parking lot.
It happened Thursday, August 24, at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on 2811 Creek Drive in Jonesboro. Around 4 p.m. that day, a manager noticed an adult white male, possibly 46, in a red shirt and shorts exit the store carrying a small female child. The male’s right arm is wrapped around the child’s neck with her lower body unsupported and her feet dangling off the ground. The child was seen crying as she was carried from the store.
The male is seen going to a blue Ford Ranger parked in a handicapped spot. He places the child inside and possibly slapped or hit the child after she is inside of the truck, a JPD officer observed.
Police went to the man’s residence and knocked several times. Even though the truck was parked outside, no one answered.
A copy of the report was forwarded to the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children hotline. The man could be charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
