Jonesboro Woman Arrested After Fentanyl, Syringes Found During Parole Search

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman was arrested after police said a traffic stop led to a parole search where fentanyl, syringes and other suspected drugs were found.

Michelle Shook, 44, of Jonesboro, was arrested on suspicion of possession of fentanyl, a Class C felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class D felony; and three misdemeanor possession charges.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an officer conducted a traffic stop May 23 at the intersection of Cain Street and East Nettleton Avenue after a driver was seen driving left of center. During the stop, police identified Shook, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and learned she was on parole.

Police said a search of the vehicle found a glass bong with residue in the back driver’s side seat. Because of the contraband found in the vehicle, officers transported Shook to her residence on Thorn Street for a parole search.

The affidavit said officers used Shook’s keys to unlock the front door and found multiple syringes, including syringes loaded with liquid substances that later field-tested positive for fentanyl. Officers also reported finding a glass pipe with burnt residue suspected to be methamphetamine and a bag containing additional syringes.

During a search of Shook’s room, officers said they found another loaded syringe containing liquid that field tested positive for fentanyl.

Police also reported finding a black metal box in the laundry room containing five blue pills suspected to be alprazolam, a clear baggie containing 0.5 grams of a brown powder that field tested positive for fentanyl, and 10.8 grams of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana.

Shook’s bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. She also has a parole hold that must be cleared before her release.

Her next court date is June 26.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
