PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested Tuesday after police said he tried to hit a 13-year-old girl with a hammer during a domestic disturbance.
Robert Calhoun, 37, of Paragould, was arrested May 12 on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony, and third-degree domestic battering, a misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Paragould officers were dispatched to a South Second Avenue residence for a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told Calhoun had attacked multiple people inside the residence.
Officers spoke with multiple victims and witnesses at the scene, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit said Calhoun attempted to hit a 13-year-old girl with a hammer and was then confronted by an adult male inside the residence. Calhoun and the male victim then got into a physical altercation, during which the victim suffered minor injuries to his face and lip, police said.
Officers quickly found Calhoun and took him into custody.
Bail was set at $35,000 cash or surety. Court records also show Calhoun was ordered to wear an ankle monitor, have no weapons and have no contact with the victims.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
