JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested on a felony domestic battery charge after police said he assaulted a victim during a domestic disturbance.
Austin Lee Jacobs, 43, was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic battery, a Class D felony when there are multiple offenses within a five-year period, obstructing governmental operations and violation of a no-contact order, both misdemeanors.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers responded April 23, 2026, to a domestic disturbance on Meadowbrook Street.
Responding officers contacted Jacobs at the scene. Police said Jacobs gave officers a false name and date of birth when asked to provide his information. His real name and date of birth were later confirmed, according to the affidavit.
Witnesses at the scene told officers that before their arrival, Jacobs assaulted and punched the victim. Officers observed visible injuries to the alleged victim that were consistent with witness statements, the affidavit states.
The affidavit also states the victim and Jacobs had been involved in a romantic relationship. Jacobs has prior domestic violence-related convictions, including an aggravated assault on a family or household member case in 2025 against the same victim involved in this case, according to the affidavit.
Another no-contact order was issued between the two and attached to the affidavit.
Special Judge Barbara Halsey set Jacobs’ bail at $75,000 cash or surety, with an ankle monitor required. His next court date is June 26.
Court records show Jacobs pleaded guilty in 2025 to aggravated assault against a family or household member. He also has convictions for false imprisonment and felony second-degree battery from 2013, when he was 29 years old, records show.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
