Marianna Man Sentenced to 20 Years in 2024 Fatal Shooting

MARIANNA, Ark. — A Marianna man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison after pleading no contest to second-degree murder in a 2024 fatal shooting.

Jeremiah Keundre Harris, 20, entered the plea Thursday, Aug. 13, in Lee County Circuit Court in connection with the death of Danny Jordan, 25, of Marianna.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 2024, at South Pointe Apartments on California Street. Marianna police officers responding to reports of gunfire found Jordan in an open apartment doorway with apparent gunshot wounds. The Lee County coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Marianna Police Department asked the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to investigate the homicide. State police special agents arrested Harris on Oct. 17, 2024, two days after the shooting.

Harris was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Division of Correction.
