JONESBORO, Ark. — A 21-year-old suspect was arrested after police say he threatened a woman and was later linked to shots fired near Santa Fe Circle.
Latrelle Alexander Whitman, 21, was arrested on allegations of possession of a firearm by certain persons with a prior violent felony conviction, a Class B felony; first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony; and misdemeanor criminal trespass.
According to the affidavit, the alleged victim told police on April 8, 2026, that Whitman was upset after learning she was spending time with another man. She said Whitman had been texting her for a number of days and told her he was going to shoot her.
The victim told police Whitman said she was going to “meet Drac.” The affidavit states the victim understood that to mean a Draco, which investigators described as a common manufacturer of AK-47-style firearms.
Police said the victim reported receiving texts with videos showing Whitman on foot near Nettleton and Santa Fe Circle. A short time later, she heard seven to eight gunshots, according to the affidavit. Dispatch also received seven other calls reporting shots fired in the area of Santa Fe Circle around that time.
A nearby resident reported seeing a silver passenger car pull into a neighbor’s driveway and then leave a short time later, around the time the shots were fired, according to the affidavit. Police said the resident at that address told investigators they did not know the person and had no business there. The home was directly across from Santa Fe Circle and was consistent with the victim’s statement that Whitman was going there because it was the closest convenient place to park his car, according to the affidavit.
Investigators said the victim knew Whitman to frequent a silver passenger car belonging to the mother of his child. The victim also showed police a video posted Sunday of Whitman brandishing a Draco-style AK-47 firearm, according to the affidavit. Police also noted multiple photos on Whitman’s Facebook account showing him brandishing firearms.
The affidavit states rumors were circulating that Whitman may also have been in a dispute with other individuals on Santa Fe Circle, but investigators said those claims had not been verified. For that reason, the no-contact order included all residences on Santa Fe Circle in Jonesboro.
Police said Whitman has prior felony convictions that include terroristic threatening and aggravated robbery.
Whitman’s bail was set at $125,000 cash or surety by Judge David Boling. His next court date is June 26.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
