Suspect Arrested on Meth Delivery Warrant Faces New Drug Charges After Cedar Heights Arrest

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Conway suspect wanted on a meth delivery warrant was arrested April 14 at Cedar Heights, where authorities say agents also found 19.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during the arrest.

Nicholas Marquette Scott, 41, of Conway, was being sought on a bench warrant alleging delivery of methamphetamine or cocaine greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams, a Class Y felony, and use of a communication device, a Class C felony.

According to the first affidavit, the Second Judicial Drug Task Force received information during a drug investigation that Scott was selling methamphetamine in the Jonesboro area. Investigators later conducted a controlled purchase using a confidential informant.

The affidavit states the informant had previously bought methamphetamine from Scott. During the controlled purchase, agents said the informant contacted Scott by phone to arrange the deal, met him at a predetermined location and exchanged buy money for methamphetamine.

After the transaction, the informant turned over the methamphetamine to agents, who reported the substance weighed about 11 grams and field-tested positive, according to the affidavit.

Authorities later located Scott on April 14 at 1803 Cedar Heights Drive, where he was arrested on the active bench warrant.

According to a second affidavit, agents conducting surveillance at the residence saw Scott carrying multiple bags to a vehicle parked in the driveway and placing them into the front passenger area. When agents approached to arrest him on the warrant, Scott ran back into the residence, but officers pursued and apprehended him near the back door.

Police said Scott told agents the bags had been placed on private property and were not subject to search. A drug-detecting K-9 was deployed around the vehicle and alerted on the driver’s door for narcotics, according to the affidavit.

Agents then searched the vehicle and reported finding a black backpack in the front seat that Scott had allegedly been seen carrying to the vehicle. Inside, officers said they found another bag containing 19.3 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale with suspected meth residue. Authorities said the same bag also contained Scott’s wallet and credit cards.

In the second case, Scott is charged with possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with purpose to deliver, a Class A felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B felony.

Scott’s bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety by Judge David Boling.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
