Bono Suspect Arrested on False Imprisonment, Assault Charges After Domestic Disturbance

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Bono suspect was arrested following a reported domestic disturbance that led officers to St. Bernards Hospital, according to an affidavit.

On Feb. 13, 2023, at approximately 5:46 p.m., Officer McCracken was dispatched to the hospital in reference to a domestic disturbance that had already occurred.

The alleged victim told police she and her husband had argued earlier that morning at their home on Monts Road in Bono. According to the affidavit, she said the suspect became angry, punched her, grabbed her and pulled her back into the apartment as she attempted to leave. She told officers she tried to flee with a bag of her belongings but was stopped at the doorway and pushed back into a room.

The alleged victim said she was unable to leave for some time and that the suspect stood in the doorway preventing her exit. She later told officers she nearly passed out during the encounter.

Police noted visible bruises on both of the alleged victim’s arms and scratches to her face. The suspect was arrested approximately three hours later without incident and transported to the Craighead County Jail.

Winston Clifton, 31, of Bono, is charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony; first-degree kidnapping/false imprisonment, a Class C felony; and interference with emergency communication, a misdemeanor.

Bail was set at $25,000 by Judge Barbara Halsey. His next court date is scheduled for March 20.
