Forrest City Teen Arrested on Theft Charges After Handgun Reported Stolen in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Forrest City man has been arrested after a Jonesboro resident reported her handgun stolen from her home, according to a police report.

The victim told Jonesboro police that on Aug. 24, 2025, she discovered her handgun was missing from her purse the morning after Darius Cross had stayed at her residence overnight. She also reported that a green sweatshirt and a black backpack were missing.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim provided security camera footage from outside her home. The video, timestamped at 6:46 a.m. that morning, allegedly shows Cross leaving the residence wearing the green sweatshirt and carrying the black backpack.

Cross, 19, of Forrest City, was later arrested on Dec. 13 and charged with theft of a firearm, a Class D felony, and misdemeanor theft. He was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Bail was set at $15,000 cash or surety. His next court date in the case is scheduled for Jan. 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
