JONESBORO, Ark. — A 30-year-old man is accused of assaulting a woman and a child during a domestic disturbance, according to a probable cause affidavit.
On Sept. 18, officers were dispatched to a residence on Meadowbrook after reports of shots fired. Police said they spoke to a woman who reported that Demarius Dee Munn, the father of her son, struck her during an altercation. She told officers her 10-year-old son tried to intervene and that Munn then went after the child.
The woman said she fired a gun into the air to protect herself and her son. A neighbor told police she saw Munn punch the woman and assault the child.
Officers documented injuries, noting that the woman had a knot on her forehead and a scratch on her jaw. The child had a bloody nose and scratches on his face and chest.
Munn faces charges of second-degree domestic battering with physical injury, a Class C felony, and third-degree domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
District Court Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $75,000 cash or surety, with conditions including a no-contact order and a GPS ankle monitor. The judge also ordered that Munn is not allowed to be around his son without the presence of the Arkansas Department of Human Services during visitation.
His next court date is Oct. 30.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
