PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested after police said a woman approached an officer with visible injuries to her face.
John Monroe Crawford was arrested on suspicion of third-degree domestic battering, a Class A misdemeanor.
Bond was set at $5,000 cash-only by District Judge Curtis Hitt. A no-contact order was also issued.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Officer Kendrick Walker was approached by a woman at about 2:17 a.m. June 2. The alleged victim said she and her boyfriend, Crawford, had gotten into an argument after Crawford accused her of cheating on him.
The affidavit said Crawford hit her in the face with an open hand, causing redness to her face and leaving her eye bruised and swollen. Walker saw the injuries, according to the affidavit.
Police said Crawford told officers the alleged victim had been cheating on him but denied any verbal or physical altercation.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
