Jonesboro Teen Wounded in Midday Shooting on Kenwood Street

JONESBORO – A 16-year-old was wounded in a midday shooting Thursday on Kenwood Street, according to a social media update from the Jonesboro Police Department.

Officers responded to the 1800 block of Kenwood around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 after witnesses reported hearing several gunshots. One witness told NEA Report that they heard six shots – three from down the street and then three more right after that. After reviewing another video from security footage, the witness said they heard as many as eight or nine gunshots. The same witness then called 911.

When police arrived, they said they found blood and shell casings in the street, but no victims.

A short time later, a 16-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound was dropped off at a local hospital for treatment. Police said he is in stable condition.

Detectives are continuing to develop suspect and witness information.
