According to a probable cause affidavit, Officer Scottie Ward was patrolling eastbound on East Kingshighway near South Fourth Avenue on Thursday, June 25, when he saw a semi brake hard because of a vehicle pulling out in front of it.
Ward attempted to stop the white vehicle after it turned south onto South Seventh Street, but police said the vehicle continued south and did not stop. The affidavit said the driver ran stop signs at South Seventh Street and Muller Street, and South Seventh Street and Wirt Street.
After assisting officers arrived, police said they were able to get the vehicle to stop. The driver, identified as Pacheco, was ordered out of the vehicle but did not comply, according to the affidavit. Ward then removed him from the vehicle and took him into custody.
Police said Pacheco did not have a driver’s license.
Judge Curtis Hitt set bail at $7,500 cash-only.
