JONESBORO, Ark. — A man who authorities said was already on probation is facing two felony drug charges after police allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a search Tuesday.
Cole Jarrett Walker is charged with possession of methamphetamine or cocaine greater than 2 grams but less than 10 grams, a Class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class D felony.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched around 2 p.m. Sept. 8 to the Southern Chef gas station at 2305 S. Caraway Road regarding a person sleeping inside a vehicle.
Officers made contact with Walker and learned he was on probation with a search waiver on file, according to the affidavit. During a search, officers allegedly found a black pouch in his left pocket containing a plastic bag with approximately 2.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a glass tube containing suspected methamphetamine residue. Walker was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
During Walker’s first appearance Wednesday, Circuit Judge Thomas Fowler found probable cause for the charges. Court records show Fowler set bond at $3,500 cash or surety.
Fowler also imposed several conditions of pretrial release. Walker was ordered not to commit any new criminal offense, and the court ordered that he be served with a no-contact order and comply with its terms. The order also prohibits alcohol or controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician.
Walker is scheduled to return to Craighead County Circuit Court at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
