PARAGOULD, Ark. — A man arrested on a felony warrant is accused of biting an officer and resisting arrest while in a hospital awaiting medical clearance, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Paragould police.

Colton P. Fetters, 30, was taken into custody on June 15, 2025, in connection with a felony warrant from another jurisdiction. Following his arrest, Fetters was transported to a local hospital due to possible drug ingestion, police said.

While awaiting medical clearance on June 16, Fetters allegedly made threatening statements to officers, including, “I’m not going to jail. If y’all try and put cuffs on me, I’m beating y’all’s asses and catching a battery charge.” Officers reported he continued to make additional alarming comments throughout the day.

When hospital staff prepared him for discharge, Fetters reportedly became combative, pulled off medical equipment, and attempted to wrap a cord around his neck. As officers intervened and tried to place him in restraints, Fetters allegedly bit one of them on the forearm.

During transport to jail, he is accused of hitting his head on the partition and repeatedly wrapping a seatbelt around his neck, according to the affidavit.

Fetters faces one count of second-degree battery, a Class D felony, and one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.

Judge Dan Stidham set his bail at $12,500 cash only, with conditions including an ankle monitor and no possession of weapons.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
