Pocahontas Man Pleads To Two Counts Of Negligent Homicide

Harrisburg, Arkansas. Sonia F. Hagood, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District, announced that Taylor Rhoades pled guilty to two counts of Negligent Homicide and received a sentence of twelve (12) years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, followed by fifteen (15) years of Suspended Imposition of Sentence.

This case was prosecuted by Managing Deputy Prosecutor Jimmy Turnbow, and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Cooper.

On June 26, 2025, the Arkansas State Police received a report regarding a red vehicle with its airbags deployed and hazard lights activated. The vehicle was parked on the right shoulder, near the 23-mile marker of Interstate I-555.

Arkansas State Trooper Josh Landreth was dispatched to the scene after a Poinsett County Deputy arrived and discovered two deceased individuals lying beside the vehicle. Poinsett County Deputy Jon Cook noticed a damaged white vehicle traveling toward Walmart in Trumann.

A traffic stop was conducted, and upon approaching the vehicle, blood spattered on the passenger door area was visible. Rhoades denied hitting anything other than “something had fallen off another vehicle.” T

rooper Landreth confirmed that the piece of white bumper located at the scene matched Rhoades’ vehicle. A Drug Recognition Expert performed tests to determine that Rhoads was intoxicated. That was later confirmed by a test of Rhoades’ blood, he was positive for methamphetamines.

This plea will ensure that Rhoades serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

“I would like to thank Arkansas State Police and Poinsett County for all their hard work and dedication to Poinsett County. Let this be a message to all that drive impaired in this county” said Managing Deputy Prosecutor Jimmy Turnbow.
