PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man has been charged with aggravated assault after police say he choked a woman during a domestic disturbance.
On May 5, officers responded to a call about an unwanted person at a residence in Paragould. When officers arrived, the woman at the home reported that Carlos Deener had been physically violent and asked that he be removed from the property.
Officers noted an injury to the woman’s neck consistent with strangulation. She told police that Deener had choked her during the incident and that she nearly lost consciousness. She also stated that Deener had choked her into unconsciousness a few days earlier.
Police questioned Deener at the scene, and he reportedly confirmed there had been physical contact between him and the woman.
Deener faces a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony. Details regarding bail were not immediately available.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
