Ex-Wife Accused of Trying to Run Over Man in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A woman faces charges after she allegedly tried to run over her ex-husband in Paragould.

Around 10:51 p.m. on March 8, the Paragould Police Department received a report from a man stating his ex-wife had tried to run him over, the probable cause affidavit said. Police arrived to find the defendant’s vehicle stuck in the yard and mostly parallel to the alleged victim’s front porch. The alleged victim reported being struck by the vehicle. Police noted his injuries were consistent with his version of events.

Additionally, the vehicle damaged a drainage pipe in the front yard of the home.

The defendant was taken to the police station where Standard Field Sobriety Tests were administered. Officers noted multiple clues to indicate impairment. Additionally, police found a THC vape in the defendant’s vehicle.

Sonya Hyde, 50, of Pargould, was arrested for Second-Degree Domestic Battering, a Class C felony; Second-Degree Criminal Mischief, a Class A misdemeanor; Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class A misdemeanor; and DWI First Offense, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Jail records show bail was set at $15,000.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
