JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man initially charged with murder has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
K8 News reports that 29-year-old Kalen Dakota Prunty pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a certain person in connection with the September 2022 shooting death of 39-year-old Kevin Oden.
Second Judicial Circuit Judge Randy Philhours sentenced Prunty to 96 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections on each charge, to run concurrently, along with additional suspended sentences.
Prunty’s trial had been postponed multiple times before he reached a plea agreement on Feb. 21. At the time, he was already serving 36 months for aggravated robbery and related charges.
