Several Vehicle Break-Ins Reported in Brookland

BROOKLAND, Ark. — Authorities warn the public not to leave valuables in vehicles overnight in Brookland.

“We’re a safe city but things do happen,” said Detective Dustin Norwood. “We’ll do the best we can to thwart that problem but in the meantime its important to take measures on your own to protect your valuables.”

One such break-in happened sometime overnight February 17 at the 100-block of Hayes Street. A man reported both his truck and his wife’s car were broken into, with both having been left unlocked. A Springfield XDS .45 semi-auto pistol was stolen during the crime, as well as a wallet. The gun was described as bronze in color with an extended magazine.

Another break-in happened between Feb. 16 and Feb. 17 at the 300 block of Shirley Drive. A vehicle license plate was stolen during this incident.

Brookland police ask if you see someone walking around at night that seems out of place, please notify the authorities at 870-935-5552 (Dispatch Center) so police can get the person identified.
