BROOKLAND, Ark. — A suspect was arrested not long after Brookland police put out a warning to the community about vehicle break-ins earlier this week.
Kristopher Allan Bullard, 27, of Brookland, was arrested on Feb. 18 for four counts of Breaking or Entering a Vehicle, three counts of Theft of a Firearm, one count of Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, and one count of Theft of $5,000 or less from a vehicle. In total, he faces nine Class D felony charges, each punishable by up to six years in prison.
In court Friday, Judge Tommy Fowler noted Bullard was convicted last year of breaking or entering vehicles. Bail was set at $25,000 cash-only, meaning it is not bondable. Prosecutors also noted they will be filing a petition to revoke in Bullard’s previous case.
Brookland police began learning of break-ins to vehicles on the morning of Feb. 18, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers learned of three stolen firearms, an Apple watch, iPhone, headphones, necklace, camera, and other miscellaneous stolen items. At least four vehicles were broken into, with more suspected.
In the early morning hours, Brookland officer Brittaney Lane made contact with Bullard in the area of the thefts. Bullard’s demeanor was also noted as being “off” during the encounter. Bullard was checked through ACIC, but the system was down at the time, so the officer couldn’t confirm he was on probation. Bullard was released during the encounter.
Later in the day, Officer Lane and Josh Whitley visited Bullard’s residence to conduct a probation search. Officers found items that were reported stolen including three guns, the Apple Watch, an iPhone, and various other items associated with the break-ins.
Bullard is being held in Craighead County Detention Center as of this article.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
