HOXIE, Ark. — Two people were arrested, with one facing class Y felony charges for the introduction of drugs into the body of another person, after drug tests showed two juveniles tested positive for meth in Hoxie.
The probable cause affidavit begins on October 17, 2024, when a DHS worker contacted Hoxie officers regarding a child removal case she was working at the 600 block of Pecan. While attempting to remove two juveniles from the home, the DHS worker was forced out and locked out.
Officers spoke with Summer Dawson, the resident, who agreed to allow the DHS worker to perform her duties. Hoxie police also accompanied the DHS worker.
As the worker gathered clothes for the children, the officer encountered Lane Holman, known to be on SIS. The officer obtained permission to search the bedroom, locating a wooden Jumanji box. The officer reported Dawson said she didn’t have her key and asked Holman to open the box with his key, indicating they both had access to the box.
The box reportedly contained two glass mirrors with white powdery residue, a blue straw with white powdery residue, a tan metal container with white powdery residue, two glass smoking devices with suspected marijuana residue, a one-hitter box with residue, and two electronic smoking devices. Despite this, the officer showed compassion to the couple by not arresting them, as the affidavit said their newborn child was in grave condition at the time in a Jonesboro hospital.
Circumstances changed on Nov. 5 when Hoxie police received hair follicle test results on the two children removed from the Dawson home. The children, ages one and two, tested positive for meth. Police prepared an affidavit for arrest for both suspects and took them into custody.
Summer Dawson, 26, was arrested on charges that include:
- Introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person, a Class Y felony (Two counts)
- First-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class D felony (Two counts)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor
Bail was set at $10,000 cash or surety with an ankle monitor required.
Lane Holman, 25, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class D felony. His bail was set at $5,000 cash or surety with an ankle monitor requirement.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
