Man Arrested for DWI After Crash Sends Victim to Memphis Hospital

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man faces charges that include a felony for leaving the scene of an accident with injury stemming from an incident last week in Jonesboro.

Around 9:24 p.m. on Nov. 28. the Jonesboro Police Department responded to the intersection of Twin Oaks Avenue and Woodsprings Road about a vehicle accident, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived to find a vehicle wrecked in the ditch near the intersection.

The wrecked vehicle contained two occupants, one in the passenger seat and one in the back seat. A witness told police a male subject had fled from the accident scene on foot before officers arrived. Officers searched the area and located the suspected driver on foot.

The suspect had a strong odor of intoxicants on him, the affidavit said. He eventually admitted to officers he had consumed alcohol recently and that he had been driving the wrecked vehicle. The vehicle’s occupants backed up that story when they spoke to police.

Meanwhile, the victim of the crash was transferred to Regional One in Memphis for treatment with a spinal injury.

Aaron Tyler Adams, 30, of Jonesboro was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident with injury, a Class D felony, and DWI, a Class A misdemeanor. On Monday, Dec. 2, his bail was set at $5,000 cash or surety with a blood alcohol content monitor ordered. Adams is ordered not to consume any alcohol while out on bond.

His next court date is January 24, 2025.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. I’m sure all involved had good insurance. Ambulance to a Memphis hospital and then there’s the hospital bill. It doesn’t say if they used a helicopter as they often do – those are really really really expensive.

What do you think?
