Woman with Criminal Record Accused of Stealing from Hotel Customer

JONESBORO, Ark. — A guest using his credit card to check into a hotel in Jonesboro found himself missing over $1,400 after reportedly using his card fraudulently. Now, a female suspect is facing charges.

Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department were dispatched to a hotel in Jonesboro on August 5, 2024, to take the report. Police learned an employee was accused of stealing a customer’s credit card information that was later used in Paragould.

The customer called the hotel claiming the person who checked him in on July 30 had taken his credit card information. It was the only time he had used the card that day, he said. Later in the day, the card was used at a business in Paragould for $1,417.87.

When police contacted the Paragould business, they learned a female had called them to pay off the account of a male customer. Police followed up with the male, who said Vicky Wheeler wanted to do something nice for him and she agreed to pay off his account at the Paragould business.

The hotel customer provided the police with a description of the clerk he handed his card. The description was then provided to the manager of the hotel, who identified the suspect as Vicky Wheeler.

Wheeler was arrested on Sept. 28. Her charges include a Class D felony for theft of property credit/debit cards and a parole violation. On Sept. 30, Judge Tommy Fowler set her bond at $1,500 cash-only, noting an extensive history of financial crimes on Wheeler’s record. Jail records also showed a parole violation for Wheeler.

Court records show Wheeler’s alias as Vickey Louise Green. Between both names, she has many previous charges. On Sept. 4, 2024, she entered a plea of guilty to forgery and possession of fentanyl in St. Francis County, receiving eight years probation.

Online records show Wheeler pleaded guilty on November 29, 2021, to residential burglary in Pulaski Circuit Court.

On March 22, 2021, she was adjudicated guilty in Phillips County for fraudulent use of a credit or debit card, greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000.

She also entered a guilty plea on March 16, 2021 to forgery in Cross County.

Court records show numerous other cases from various counties in Arkansas.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
