Woman Faces Class Y Felony After Deputies Find Loaded Gun, Meth in Vehicle

POCAHONTAS, Ark. — A Randolph County woman faces a Class Y felony after deputies said she threatened to shoot a man and was later found with a loaded handgun and methamphetamine.

Madison Lynn Junkersfeld, 29, of O’Kean was arrested on suspicion of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony; possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, a Class D felony; and first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony.

She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass and obstruction of governmental operations.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Randolph County deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:31 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, to a residence on Country Club Road after Junkersfeld reportedly refused to leave the property.

The resident told deputies Junkersfeld had come to the home claiming some of her mail was there. The resident said she did not have any of Junkersfeld’s mail and wanted her to leave.

The affidavit states that the resident sent Junkersfeld a message telling her she was not welcome at the property and then went outside and personally instructed her to leave. Junkersfeld allegedly remained inside a vehicle in the driveway.

Four members of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded. When they arrived, a deputy ordered Junkersfeld to exit the vehicle, but she allegedly ignored the command.

Junkersfeld stepped out and was taken into custody as a deputy prepared to break the vehicle’s window, according to the affidavit.

The resident later told investigators Junkersfeld had called her at work and threatened a man, saying she would make sure he never returned to the residence. Junkersfeld allegedly said she would shoot him if he came back.

Deputies were also shown messages in which Junkersfeld indicated she expected to go to jail or die by suicide, the affidavit states.

After the arrest, deputies conducted a tow-inventory search of Junkersfeld’s vehicle. Inside a purse allegedly belonging to her, deputies reported finding a black handgun loaded with five full-metal-jacket rounds.

The purse also allegedly contained a green plastic straw with white crystalline residue. Investigators said the residue tested positive for methamphetamine.

Deputies also reported finding a clear plastic container holding a white crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The substance weighed approximately 0.33 grams, according to the affidavit.

The allegations have not been proven in court. Junkersfeld is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
