Possible Human Remains Found During Search for Missing Trumann Woman

TRUMANN, Ark. — Investigators found what they believe are human remains Friday at a Trumann property searched as part of the investigation into missing person Rebecca Spray, according to a release from Trumann police.

Spray was reported missing to the Trumann Police Department on Aug. 14. Investigators subsequently obtained a search warrant for a property at 401 N. Pine Ave.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. Friday, the Trumann Police Department SWAT Team and Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team jointly served the warrant.

Investigators located the suspected human remains while searching the property. The remains have not been positively identified and will be submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for examination.

The laboratory will work to determine the person’s identity and, when possible, the cause and manner of death.

Police Chief Doug Thomas said Rudy Ray of 401 N Pine in Trumann has been taken into custody in Franklyn, TN. Charges are tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. Further charges are expected.

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and FBI are assisting Trumann police with the investigation.

Authorities were continuing to process the scene and gather evidence Friday. Additional information will be released once it can be confirmed.
