PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man received 80 days in jail and three years of probation after pleading guilty to two felonies in a case in which police said he threatened to shoot a man and tried to run him over while his 7-year-old child was in his vehicle.
Tanner Neal Stonehart, 33, pleaded guilty July 28 in Greene County Circuit Court to aggravated assault and first-degree terroristic threatening, both Class D felonies, according to court records.
Circuit Judge Pam Honeycutt ordered Stonehart to serve 80 days in the Greene County Detention Center, with credit for 48 days already served. He was also placed on probation for 36 months.
The charges stemmed from a disturbance reported at approximately 3:17 p.m. June 10 in the 900 block of South 10th Street.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were told Stonehart had threatened to shoot a man and attempted to run him over. Police said Stonehart’s 7-year-old child was inside his vehicle during the incident.
Officers documented tire tracks in the yard and redness on the alleged victim’s right calf, where the man said Stonehart’s vehicle struck him.
Stonehart later arrived at the Paragould Police Department with his child. During an interview, police said, Stonehart admitted threatening to shoot the man and driving through the yard.
Under the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped a misdemeanor charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
The court handled the two felony charges through deferred adjudication, meaning no judgment of guilt was entered. If Stonehart fulfills the terms and conditions of his probation without a violation, he may ask the court to dismiss the charges and seal the case.
Stonehart was also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and pay court costs and fees.
