HOXIE, Ark. — The Hoxie Police Department released information about a DWI arrest from Friday to NEA Report this week.
On Friday night, Officer Zach Pollard was patrolling Highway 63 when he observed a vehicle that appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed, the release said. Pollard activated his radar, recording that the vehicle was traveling 72 mph in a 60 mph zone. Pollard then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the speeding violation.
Upon making contact with the driver who was identified as Natosha Guthrie, Officer Pollard introduced himself and his reason for the stop. During this encounter, he noticed a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle. Once he gathered all the necessary information Officer Pollard then requested another unit for assistance.
Upon the arrival of Officers Steve Potter and Jason Bristow, Officer Bristow made contact with Guthrie where he too smelt the strong odor. Bristow then asked the driver if she minded performing a few tests to make sure she was ok to drive to which she complied.
During field sobriety testing Guthrie showed numerous signs of impairment. Officer Pollard then placed Guthrie in wrist restraints, placed her in the rear of his patrol car, and then transported her to Lawrence County Detention Center where she refused to give a breath sample.
Guthrie is being charged with:
- Refusal to submit to a chemical test
- DWI
- Possession of an open container
- Speeding
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
