Sex Offender Arrested for Not Reporting Move to Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. – A registered sex offender faces a felony charge after he moved and failed to inform police in time, a probable cause affidavit says.

Gillard C. Burton, now of Paragould, is being charged with a count of failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements, a Class C felony.

The affidavit says on May 16, Burton reported to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that he had moved to Paragould. He was informed he had five days to report to the Paragould Police Department that he had moved.

On May 28, Burton had still not reported to Paragould authorities. He was told on that day he was not in compliance, as he had failed to report the information to PPD.

Finally, on June 3, the affidavit says Burton reported to Paragould police and was arrested and again advised of his reporting requirements.

Burton is a level 3 sex offender who was convicted of rape, according to the Arkansas Sex Offender Registry.
