Teens Arrested for Guns and Drugs Following Traffic Stop in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A traffic stop for a defective headlight ended with two teens arrested for possessing guns, drugs, and ammunition on Christmas Eve in Jonesboro.

Around 12:36 AM on Dec. 24, while on patrol on Red Wolf Boulevard, Officer Tosha Geror noticed a silver 2008 Toyota Avalon with a defective passenger-side headlight. The officer turned around and caught up to the car at the stop light at Johnson and Red Wolf.

“Once I got behind them, I observed the driver making motions to the passenger and shaking his head as if he was upset once he noticed me behind him,” Officer Geror wrote in the report.

The vehicle stopped near the 2700-block of E. Johnson Avenue. The officer radioed for another unit, to be safe.

Subsequently, a black 16-year-old male and a white 17-year-old male were taken into custody. Each teenager was found in possession of a handgun, along with extended magazines and ammunition, as outlined in the report.

The search of the vehicle yielded four glass jars, three marijuana pipes, two grinders, and a scale. Authorities also recovered approximately 34.3 grams of loose marijuana, THC vaping devices, and a recently filled bottle of antidepressants, raising suspicions of missing pills, as noted in the report. Cash was also discovered in the vehicle, including fake ‘movie money.’

The two teens were arrested. They were referred to the juvenile department for prosecution on charges including simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, handguns/possession by a minor, fleeing, possession of a schedule I or II substance, not meth or cocaine, with purpose to deliver, and possession of a schedule IV or V substance with purpose to deliver.
