PARAGOULD, Ark. – A domestic disturbance this week on Porter Street in Paragould unfolded into a distressing scenario culminating in the arrest of a man for alleged assault on a family or household member in the third degree.

According to the probable cause affidavit released by the Paragould Police Department, officers were summoned to the scene at approximately 7:08 AM on December 26, 2023, responding to reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers encountered three juveniles, visibly distressed and expressing fear related to their stepfather, who was reportedly inside the residence.

Initial observations inside the house revealed an unsettling scene, with dog feces and urine scattered across the living room, indicative of a chaotic environment. It was noted that multiple dogs were present within the residence.

Statements from  an alleged female victim detailed a heated argument between her and Dustin Pintens, her husband. She reported that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over car keys, with Dustin allegedly attempting to take her keys to travel to Jonesboro for plasma donation. The woman insisted that Dustin take his truck in case of emergencies involving the juveniles. This disagreement escalated, leading to an alleged physical altercation where Dustin attempted to take her keys forcefully, resulting in damage to the keys and her shirt.

Upon Dustin’s return from the store, the altercation resumed, reportedly resulting in Dustin throwing a cup of coffee against a wall, causing it to splatter on all individuals present. One of the juveniles alleged that Dustin attempted to close the door on their arm during the confrontation.

Contrasting accounts emerged from Pintens, who claimed a verbal argument ensued over his wife’s objection to his plasma donation plan. He denied physically striking her but admitted to a confrontation over the car keys and the subsequent destruction of property within the residence.

As a consequence of the events, Dustin Pintens was taken into custody for alleged assault on a family or household member in the third degree. Third degree assault on a family or household member is a Class C misdemeanor. He was apprehended, handcuffed, double-locked, and transported to the Greene County Jail.

Authorities have been notified, and the case has been referred to the Child Abuse Hotline for further investigation.
