Teen Arrested for DUI After Running Red Light, Causing Serious Injury in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after allegedly running a red light and colliding with another vehicle, resulting in serious injuries, on Saturday evening in Jonesboro.

The incident occurred between 5:18 PM and 7:53 PM on September 30 at the intersection of E. Nettleton and Red Wolf Boulevard. A 16-year-old white male was behind the wheel of a black 2007 Chevy Silverado when he purportedly ran the red light, leading to the collision. The impact caused significant damage to a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, and a 2008 Chevy Equinox was also affected.

The police report did not specify the extent of injuries sustained in the incident. However, one individual suffered a “major injury,” while another sustained minor injuries.

The teenager is now facing several charges, including DUI, reckless driving, running a red light, failure to wear a seat belt, driving without a driver’s license, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident.

The case has been referred to juvenile authorities for prosecution.
