Earle Man Arrested for Allegedly Passing Counterfeit Bills

JONESBORO, Ark. β€” An Earle man was arrested this week in Jonesboro after allegedly passing counterfeit money and possessing instruments of crime.

The incident occurred between 6:10 and 6:16 p.m. at Kum & Go, located at 2214 East Johnson Ave. Security footage showed the suspect handing over two fake $50 bills and receiving $20 in genuine currency as change.

The suspect, identified as Devonn Mckenzie, 51, of Earle, was found with two bicycles: an orange and black Huffy Region 30 and another spray-painted black with a small white basket and seat strap. Because neither bicycle had a serial number, it was unclear whether both belonged to Mckenzie. A glass pipe with residue was also found, leading to additional charges.

Mckenzie was arrested on felony charges of first-degree forgery and misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and possession of instruments of crime.
