Stolen Vehicle Found Damaged; Other Vehicle Thefts

JONESBORO, Ark. — A vehicle reported stolen over the weekend was found wrecked in a ditch with significant damage and evidence of drug use inside.

The vehicle’s owner reported the theft of his silver Chevrolet Silverado at 9:48 a.m. on August 5 from the 800-block of North Church Street. He recalled parking it under his carport the previous night. Exhausted from a rigorous work week, the man admitted to mistakenly leaving the keys in the ignition. He discovered the vehicle missing upon waking up.

Craighead County deputies located the Silverado the next day near Westside schools. It had already been towed following a wreck from the previous night. Police noted extensive damage to the vehicle.

Additionally, a marijuana pipe was discovered on the vehicle’s floor, which has since been logged as evidence. Police hope to recover DNA from the pipe to aid in the ongoing investigation, the report said.

In separate police reports, a 2017 Mercedes-Benz was stolen between August 6 and August 7 at the 100-block of Daybreak Drive. The report is masked while under investigation but says the vehicle was recovered in decent condition. It also lists two suspects, one white male, 35, and one white female, 34.

A black 2019 Chevy Blazer was stolen from the 2100 block of Bridger Road the night of August 7 or early morning August 8.

A blue 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen on August 7 from the 300-block of Melrose Street.
