Jonesboro Resident Reports Over $36,000 Stolen in Mailbox Check Theft

JONESBORO, Ark. – A resident of Jonesboro reported a stolen check valued at over $36,000 this week.

The incident was reported to the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD) on July 12, but occurred between April 24 and July 12, at a residence on the 2900 block of Martinbrook Drive, according to the report. The 73-year-old victim alleged that a check, worth $36,458.08, was stolen from his mailbox during this period.

The report does not list any potential suspects or provide information regarding individuals who might have been involved. However, it is still mostly masked due to investigative status.

In Arkansas, theft of $25,000 or more is considered a Class B felony. Sentencing guidelines prescribe five to 20 years’ incarceration, and a maximum fine of $15,000.
